Email marketing is dead
I know that a blog on email marketing software saying, "email marketing is dead" sounds wrong but it is dead.
Who killed opt-in email marketing?: Lazy marketing people who keep sending out rubbish emails that offer no value to subscribers. It's not just the fault of junior marketing people who want to blast asap so they can report on what a great job their doing. The real villains are the CMO's and heads of digital marketing departments who don't realise or care that their emails are annoying their email subscribers.
Why are opt-in email marketers killing email marketing?: The first reason is because its so cheap to launch an email marketing campaign that its not valued. The second reason email marketing is dead is due to digital marketers getting distracted by social media marketing hype.
Can we bring opt-in email marketing back to life?: No it's completely dead. Interruption email marketing has reached the end of its life.

I don’t think that opt-in email marketing is dead but agree most email marketing is lazy. Email needs to add value which equals forwarding great content which helps people or starts a social media dialogue. Do you really think email marketing is dead?

Julie I agree great content is the future of email marketing. Getting people to see you as a provider of value is the way forward. That said too many email marketers are still sending junk and killing email for everyone.

Wow, I think to say its dead are pretty strong and harsh words, correct people are doing things wrong but targeted emails with relevant content can and do bring ROI for companies and satisfaction to subscribers. I think it will take a very long time for email to die.
