B2B Email Marketing Software
I've had a look at B2B email marketing software before but lets dig a little deeper.
In addition to standard email marketing offerings a B2B email solution needs lead management routing capabilities and integration to sales force automation systems.
Leading B2B Email Marketing Software Solutions:
1. Aprimo's Email Marketing Software
Lead Management: Lead routing and lead scoring
SFA Integration: Salesforce.com, Siebel and Microsoft CRM
Service Offering: Hosted and Software
2. Eloqua's Email Marketing Software
Lead Management: Lead routing and lead scoring
SFA Integration: Salesforce.com
Service Offering: Hosted
3. Silverpop's Email Marketing Software
Lead Management: Lead routing and scoring
SFA Integration: Salesforce.com
Service Offering: Hosted
Only email marketing software providers with an office in the UK have been included.
If you have more details on the above or other B2B email marketing solutions please comment.

This list could be expanded to include any email marketing solution as most b2b email marketers don’t have the need or resources to deploy advanced email marketing software with lead management. Smaller b2b marketers could be better of using the email marketing offering from their SFA tool as it removes the need for two way integration and should add campaign history to contact records. When salesforce.com builds or buys an email marketing addon companies like Aprimo, Eloqua, Marketo and Silverpop will suffer. Unless there lucky and get brought by salesforce.com which is sure to result in big £££.

Two other solutions I’ve seen before with lead routing which are built on the salesforce.com platform are Marketo and eTrigue. Both of these solutions are lighter on features than Aprimo and Eloqua but that may not be a bad thing. I don’t think they have offices in the UK but they have customers here.

Stuart, I’ve seen a demo of Marketo and have worked with some of the management before. It’s a very clean solution with the hook to salesforce.com and ease of use being it’s main strenghs.

To lump these under the description Email marketing programmes is to misunderstand what they do and leave most of their benefits on the table. These are Marketing Automation programmes where you can set up multi-email nurturing programmes which send a series of emails according to what action the customer takes, what niche they are in etc. A Marketing Automation programme is an essential part of marketing for mid-size and larger companies.
Marketo is also worthy of consideration. Pardot, Loopfuse and ActOn are also useful players.

Julie’s comment is wrong. No-one should use Salesforce for their email marketing as emails are sent from your own server – if you get blackflagged for spam (and it can happen by accident) the whole company loses their email and broadband.
These products can do a lot more than a Salesforce App ever can, and they work with most CRM packages, not just Salesforce.

Peter,
I said, “When salesforce.com builds or buys an email marketing addon companies like Aprimo, Eloqua, Marketo and Silverpop will suffer”. I did’nt say companies should use salesforce.com’s existing email marketing offering.

Any solution could be used for b2b email marketing. You can get your data out of your sfa solution and into your email marketing software then import the data back into the sfa solution. Yes it’s better if you’ve got a connector and can automate the process but most b2b email marketers can afford solutions like Aprimo or Eloqua.

Eloqua has been losing deads all over the place to Marketo, Aprimo and Silverpop. I know Marketo didnt make the list because they don’t have an office in the UK but word is they soon will.
